What is Agentic commerce?
Agentic commerce is when an AI assistant searches, compares and buys on someone's behalf, right inside the chat.
In September 2025 OpenAI and Stripe released the Agentic Commerce Protocol for buying inside ChatGPT; in January 2026 Google announced the Universal Commerce Protocol with major retailers. It is mostly in the US for now, but the direction is clear: customers ask AI and buy on the spot, so prices, stock and product details must be clear and correct wherever AI reads them.

A customer asks an assistant to "find a denim jacket under 500k, delivered tomorrow": shops with clear prices, sizes and stock get picked.
